公开资料显示，从2005年开始，腾讯就开始对海外游戏公司的收购、投资之路，布局领域涉及游戏研发、技术研发、游戏发行等。 其中，腾讯在2015年12月全资收购《英雄联盟》的美国开发商Riot Games。之后腾讯以英雄联盟玩法为原型，自行开发了手游《王者荣耀》，该款游戏更于去年5月荣登全球最赚钱手游榜首。
